Safety
Zero Injuries
At C. E. Thurston & Sons, Inc., we consider our employees to be our most valuable asset, and therefore, safety is our Number One Priority on every job. Everyone must share the responsibility for safety to ensure a safe and hazard-free workplace. We no longer expect injuries to occur as a part of doing business; we believe all injuries can and shall be prevented.
In 1995, we developed a comprehensive safety program, Zero Injuries. It is the purpose of our Company rules and guidelines to establish practical standards to safeguard the well-being of our employees, other craftsmen in the field, and the general public. In planning for safety, every practical step will be taken to maintain a safe and healthful work environment.
All safety programs and basic safety practices are described and taught to all employees. All newly hired field employees will undergo thorough safety orientation and training at the time of hire and during regular weekly toolbox safety meetings. Each employee is expected to follow our safety guidelines unless guidelines that are more stringent take precedent. A positive attitude towards safety is also necessary. No one wants to sustain an injury or cause a fellow employee to sustain one. We believe safety training and a thorough knowledge of safety rules and practices can eliminate unnecessary accidents. A positive attitude will help employees to think and work safely.
We take pride knowing our overall safety record surpasses the industry’s average according to OSHA standards.
